Wearing a Fox t shirt and Nike tracksuit bottoms, 25-year-old David Casavant introduces his personal collection of Helmut Lang. He built the collection mainly from eBay auctions over the years and it is now one of the largest in the world.
Today, he makes a living renting out the most iconic pieces to celebrities that are looking for something a little different. With clients such as Kanye West, Rihanna and Lorde all hoping to make themselves stand out by wearing some of the rare items from his collection, usually for events or photoshoots.
Casavant suggests: “I want the pieces to be used, because to me, that’s what clothes are for … It’s like they’re alive, and I want them to stay alive.” He also expresses the belief that no matter how much is offered to him he should not sell the clothes, to keep them preserved as a unified collection.
