Clothsurgeon - Fashion Designer Focuses On Adapting Sportswear To Fit Formal Occasions

After a brief career as a professional footballer, Rav Matharu decided to take his passion for fashion and design and turn it into a calling, in 2006 graduating with a First Class Honours degree in BA Fashion and Technology. He then went on to work at bespoke streetwear brand House of Billiam, where he immediately earned himself the role of Head Designer. Spending nearly four years with the London-based label, Rav was able to quickly develop his tailoring skills as well as gain a clearer understanding of the fashion industry.

The 30-year-old designer then took on the brand name Clothsurgeon. He defines himself as a “couture practitioner qualified to perform surgical like skills on cloth.”. His garments are both unique and suitable to the client’s needs and personality. Since his brand’s beginning in early 2012, his bespoke clients already include some of hip-hop’s brightest young stars, such as A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar and Big Sean.

iIn his latest work seen above, Clothsurgeon creatively uses Nike tracksuits in an amazingly inventive way. Using four pairs of Nike navy tracksuit bottoms, a timely Wimbledon themed suit has been created. This man has serious skills on the sewing machine!

Some of his other work can be seen below. Be sure to check out his Tumblr for more...
