10,000 Undeveloped Negatives Uncover Hidden Gem

When John Maloof purchased a box full of undeveloped negatives for $380 at a local auction he never dreamed that he would be unearthing one of the most important street photographers of the twentieth century. However this was the case and turned the art world upside down, as he developed the works of Vivian Maier a nanny and complete unknown at the time.

Vivian's work ventured outside the picturesque residential neighbourhoods of her employers, documenting all segments of life around the big city and is particularly evocative for those who grew up in the 50's and 60's. Unfortunately following attempts to track her down she has passed away, however her legacy now remains and there is a documentary exploring her work and life.

Take a look at some of her works ...
